Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) Division is situated at Siliguri, District Darjeeling. This is under the Hill Circle of Forest Directorate, Government Of West Bengal. This division is formerly called as Minor Forest Produce Division and established in 1966 vide GO no 6689-For/IS-18/66 dt 6/12/1966. From the 30-04-2008 new name of this Division had been made vide GO 1373-For/FR/O/G/4E-01/05 dt 19/3/05. To increase the volume of work it has been decided vide no 6250/Cs/2M-754/07 DT 3/11/2009,2567/IT-2289(PT VII) 30/12/2009 that that all products of this Division would be marketed in collaboration with West Bengal Forest development Corporation Ltd(WBFDCL) and revenue earned by this Division would accrue to the WBFDCL. DFO and all Range officers is designated as Ex-officio Divisional Manager and ex-officio Range Manager of WBFDCL
The jurisdiction of NTFP Division is entire plains of North West Bengal and up to Sukna in the hill. The objective of this Division is cultivation, processing and marketing of different Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP e.g citronella, turmeric medicinal herbs) through Joint Forest management. There is no land under this Division and this Division is working in Overlapping Working Circles of different territorial Divisions of North Bengal The activity is also extended to South Bengal (Rupnarayan Division).
At present NTFP Division primarily concentrates on Production of different Common Ayurvedic Drugs (Churna).For that purpose this Division got GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) from Directorate of ISM Drug Control, Government of West Bengal.
