Definition Bulletproof glass (also Known as ballistic glass, transparent armour or bullet-resistant glass) is a type of strong but optically transparent material that is particularly resistant to being penetrated when struck by bullets, but like all known materials, is not completely impenetrable. It is usually made from a combination of two or more types of glass. How it works When a high speed projectile impacts bullet-resistant glass, it basically shatters through the outer layer of ordinary glass, after which it encounters the transparent plastic known as PVB. Part of the energy of the projectile is absorbed into the glass shattering process, while much of the remaining energy is dissipated into the PVB layer. If the energy is not completely released in the first layer, then it will surely be in the next ones so in the end the bullet does not escape the final layer and penetrate to the other side. Applications These glass can be used in variety of places such as vehicles, Bungalows Server rooms, Show rooms, Malls, Banks, ATM Centres, Security Booths Advantages These glass are used where high security is required, These glass prove as a life saving armour. Acoustic comfort-the laminated composed of the glass increases the acoustic value compared to ordinary glass with the same thickness. Thermal comfort- laminated edition of the glass increase the thermal comfort. Visual comfort-the usage of coloured foil instead of clear foil improves the visual comfort.
