Nitrogen fixing bacteria are the microorganisms capable of transforming atmospheric nitrogen into fixed nitrogen, the inorganic compounds. Two kinds of nitrogen fixers are widely recognized i.e. Free-living (non-symbiotic) bacteria and mutualistic (symbiotic) bacteria. For free-living (non-symbiotic) bacteria like azotobacter, beijerinckia, clostridium etc, a range of media such as azotobacter agar, norris glucose nitrogen free medium, beijerinckia medium, ashbys glucose agar and many more are developed and offered by himedia. Bacteria as plant pathogens can cause severe economically damaging diseases, ranging from spots, mosaic patterns or pustules on leaves and fruits, or smelly tuber rots to plant death. In order to isolate, cultivate and identify such bacteria, HiMedia has developed Dehydrated Culture Media such as MP-7 Medium for Erwinia; Cetrimide Agar, Pseudomonas Agar, SM selective agar, etc for Pseudomonas. And also for Phytopathogenic fungi, medium such as Oak Wilt Fungus Agar, Limabean agar are available.
