patents are one of the oldest forms of intellectual property protection and, as with all forms of protection for intellectual property, the aim of a patent system is to encourage economic and technological development by rewarding intellectual creativity.
a patent is the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, selling, or importing the patented invention for a limited period of time. patent is not a grant of a right to make, use or sell. A patent is a contract between the government and the patentee. It is granted in return of full disclosure of the invention to the world via patent document.
Criteria of patentability of an invention: products and processes which meet all the below mentioned criteria can be patented.

2. non-obvious
3. industrial applicability
4. specification
5. enablement
