There are three main causes of Illness: Asatmendriyartha Samyoga : Excessive indulgence (ati yoga), hypo interaction (hina yoga) & perverse use (mithya yoga) of organs of conation and cognition – are the main causes of diseases. These cause  excess of Vata which leads to imbalance, resulting in disease process. Prajnaparadha : It is the volitional transgression or failure of intellect. This happens due to the excitement of doshas causing inequilibrium in the mind.
