First, the danger causing sources are removed by us using our highly modern techniques. Then the client is trained in certain techniques and activities that would ensure the problem doesn’t come back in the long run.

What is IPM? Integrated Pest Management (IPM) - is a pest control program which requires the implementation of at least two (2) control measures; is about a joint team effort between the Pest Control Contractor and the Client in order to achieve the Control of Pest to the highest possible level. This means that the client must understand the importance of their role in an IPM Program and give full support to any Action that may be required to prevent pest entering and proliferating within their property. This is the priniciple behind Natural Pest Control Pvt. Ltd treatments (e.i. Safespray, Insjecta, Ratproof etc)

Pest Control Method :

  • Sanitation : cleaning and removal of pest harborage
    • Example : removal of unnecessary materials in an office; use of disinfectants and cleaning of infested premises;
    • Constant garbage collection : removal/dehydration of stagnant water from containers or canals etc.
    • Remove dead trees.
    • Break wood-to-soil contact.
    • Remove scrap wood and paper debris.
    • Improve drainage system from structure.
    • Inspect vapor barrier.
    • Improve ventilation in crawl space.
  • Physical : The use of natural physical properties such as extreme differential light rays, heat and cold as well as dehydration
    • Example : installation of electric fly killers which attracts and electrocutes any flying biologicals that touches a
    • Lamp :application of too much heat to kill unwanted insect pest from a Commodity : use of electronic fly killers.
  • Chemical : The use of organic and inorganic compounds that are formulated to kill pests either through contact, inhalation or ingestion (feeding).
  • Cultural: the changing or alteration of environmental or working habit of humans to reduce pest harborage
    • Example : proper storage facilities and practices that reduces pest population such as storing in enclosed materials including refrigerator; purchasing/buying of enough food materials to avoid excesses.
  • Mechanical : Is the direct killing of pests such as pitting, smashing or crushing of an animal pest.
  • Structural : This is also known as pest proofing; it includes the manipulation of the environment to avoid the entry breeding of pests (e.g. sealing of silicon in gaps, sealing of holes etc.)
  • Biological : This method is the use of other living organisms to control pests. This is highly important in agriculture but

Basic Steps of IPM Program :

  • Inspection of the premises Fecal matters, Living individual of the pest, Ead adult specimens of the pest, Signs or damage infested by the pest and Immature stages of the pest are generally the clues important for efficient treatment of pests.
  • Identification of pests, pest damage or the potential for pest infestation After completion of Inspection, the pest management professional must identify what pests are infestating the structure. The proper Identification leads to the effective control strategy.
Determination of the extent of the pest problem Clumped population- this means that the pest is only situated in a single area where you can find the Individual pest
  • Randomly scattered- this means that the pest is hard to locate its specific location but are observed infesting a lot of areas, and qually distributed-this means that the pest is most probably be found in the whole area at the same degree of population. Although you cannot define the precise population, the control treatment itself can be manipulated/decided by analyzing in this way. Control treatment/procedures appropriate to the problem. The control treatment must be highly specific, in accordance to the degree of population, place of infestation and the behavior of the pest. In pest control industry, wherein formulated pesticide products are broadly used, it is important to read the specification of the product from their labels. For example, Briban is used by Natural Pest Control Pvt. Ltd in external/outside premises only because of its high mammalian toxicity and its high residual activity. This means that it will significantly kill humans if sprayed inside houses at an alarming rate. Furthermore, since it can withstand sun’s evaporative effect, it will be effective in the external premises since it will stay longer compared to other groups of insecticides. Actibiol and Ficam, on the other hand has been rated to be with low mammalian toxicity, if the concentrations are done properly. Lastly, always read the use of the pesticide given to you. Read the following attachment for more details.

Warning : All these pesticide products are hazardous to humans and other animals; it is important to always read and follow the instructions from the labels. “The label is the law”.

Evaluation of the control treatment : Monitoring is the key method to ensure success of the IPM System. It means that the accounts are inspected on regular basis by the Technicians or quality assurance person to determine if pest are present. Evidence of Pest should motivate the Pest Management Professional to reassess the program, identify areas overlooked and eliminate entry points to enhance program effectiveness.

Communication to the customer : This is an important step to success of the IPM System with the customer. It is an on-going process in the IPM System. The Entomologist must convince the customer that IPM will be effective when the programme are given sufficient time to work and when the conditions that encourage infestation are removed. The customer needs to be involved in improving sanitation, repairing structural deficiencies and monitoring for Pests.

Examples of Integrated Pest Management Principles Applied :

  • Covering or dewatering an open water tank will control mosquito problem for more efficiently than regularly treating The water with a Larvicide.
  • Making sure that all window screens are functioning properly, not torn and are tight fitting will prevent flies entering The building. Why let them in and take hours to die after they have come in contact with the Pesticides or Electronic Fly Killer?
  • Quarantine all incoming items, inspecting them and washing where possible will reduce the risk of pests entering And proliferating within the building, cockroaches are commonly introduced in this manner, so why take the risk? Regularly cleaning under the food storage shelves will remove any potential food source for rats and mice. This Practice will also decrease use of rodenticide baits.
  • Minimizing the brightness of night lights on the exterior of the building, and using yellow bulbs where possible, will Lessen the attractiveness of hundreds/thousands flying insects at night resulting in less flying insects inside the building.

Benefits of IPM Program :

  • Less pests being encountered.
  • Less Chemicals/Pesticides being used.
  • Less call backs for the pest control contractor and less disruption to the clients operation.
  • Actual clients customers satisfaction.
  • Less risk of damage to food, equipment, health and property.
