Industrial Grade Bitumen

Straight Grade Bitumen is processed in our plant for a longer period. By this process, Bitumen becomes sludge/moisture free and softening/penetration values are improvised to a great extent. This is called Blown Bitumen and the same has the wide range of industrial applications. These Grades are further distinguished depending upon their softening points and penetration values.

Grade 85/25, 90/15, 115/15.

Industrial grade bitumen is used in waterproofing, damp proofing, acid/alkali resistant, subflooring, canal lining, road construction, joint fillers, lamination, battery sealing, a base for cable joining compound and manufacturing of paints, printing inks, explosives etc.

Paving Grade Bitumen

(IS:73-2006) Grade 60/70 and 30/40. Straight grade used in construction and maintenance of roads, airfields and allied constructions, manufacturing of bitumen Emulsions.

Bitumen is the end product in the crude distillation process. This raw bitumen is called Straight grade bitumen and has penetration values of 200-300. The straight grade bitumen obtained from the refineries is processed in our highly modernized plant through the exothermic reaction, to the relevant time limit to produce the desired Paving Grades as per the specifications.

Viscosity Grade bitumen is designed to take care of lowest temperature(responsible for cracking) and maximum temperature(responsible for rutting).

Road Bitumen

bitumen is in the road making industry for construction and maintenance. bitumen emulsions are a dispersion of bitumen in an aqueous continuous phase, stabilized by the addition of an emulsifier. They are prepared as emulsions at high temperatures, but applied as solid dispersions at ambient temperatures. In road making, bitumen products are typically applied with mineral aggregate. The strong adhesion that occurs between the bitumen and mineral aggregate enables the bitumen to act as a binder, with the mineral aggregate providing mechanical strength for the road.Bitumen is difficult to work with, at ambient temperatures since it is a highly viscous material under these conditions. it can, however be transformed into a workable state by blending with petroleum solvents or by emulsification with a surfactant in water to form a bitumen emulsion. Emulsified bitumen acts as a key tool in road maintenance and construction technology as it combines amazing versatility while offering multiple comparativeadvantages.

Polymer Modified Bitumen

Polymer Modified Bitumen have binders whose properties have been modified by the use of a modifying agent which when added to the original bitumen alters its chemical structure and/or physical and mechanical properties in order to make it more resistant to temperature variations, weather and high traffic loads.

Commonly used modifying agents are polymers. depending upon the nature of the polymer, these modifiers can be classified as:

Plastomers: EVA(Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) , EBA(Ethylene Butyl Acrylate), ETP(Ethylene Ter Polymer) etc.

Elastomers: SBS(Styrene-Butadiene Styrene), SIS(Styrene isoprene Styrene).

Advantages of using PMB:
  • Increase in softening point and decrease in the brittleness ensures more protection against hot Climatic Conditions
  • increase in elastic recovery ensuring protection against the cold climatic condition
  • Better adhesion of the binder to the aggregate
  • Water resistance properties are increased
  • Resistance to stripping and low-temperature cracking
  • Resistance to fatigue and rutting

BITUKOTE

Bitukote is a dispersion of selected grades of bitumen in water with inert and fibrous fillers. In original form, it is dark brown in color and on the application as it sets, it turns black. Once it sets, it remains plastic and is able to accommodate movements of pipes or vessels whose thermal insulation it protects.

Bitukote when applied over thermal insulation, protects it and keeps the moisture away and maintains their thermal efficiency. It gives joint-less coating and the coating is impervious to moisture. It possesses plastic qualities and can withstand vibration, temperature fluctuations, and accidental shocks.

  • Waterproofing of buildings, particularly vertical surfaces where color(black) overrides the importance of protection against seepage during rainy season
  • Protection of insulated surfaces, both for hot and cold pipes, reaction vessels, boilers etc.
  • Protection of buried steel pipes and structures and as well as concrete foundations, leaky walls and roofs having numerous cracks for instant sealing in adverse weather conditions
  • Anti-corrosive protection of steel, particularly suited for coaches, automobiles, subject to intensive vibration.

Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen

crmb is a blend of selected grades of bitumen and modifier. The rubber modifier used, balances the required visco-elastic balance of the bitumen binder, which improves the resistance to thermal and low temperature cracking. Crmb has good adhesion to different types of aggregates which therefore reduce cracking, deformation etc.

crmb meets the specification of is:15462 of 2004.

advantages of using crmb:

  • cost effective
  • improves resistance to cracking, resulting in stronger and more durable overlays for corridors in the areas of extreme climatic conditions and heavy traffic loads
  • reduces deformation on road at elevated temperature
  • achieves more viscosity and elastic recovery as compared to conventional bitumen
  • better adhesive property
  • higher stability and flexibility

BITUPRIMER

Before application of bitumen, bituminous coatings or bituminous compounds to any concrete, masonry, wooden or metal surface, a coat of liquid bituminous primer of low viscosity, which penetrates into the surface is a must.

Bituprimer, manufactured in conform to IS:3384, because of its low vapor contents, easy application, quick drying time, better bonding and low viscosity is an answer to all bituminouspriming needs.

Uses:
  • Application of bitumen to concrete and masonry surfaces, while undertaking damp-proofing and waterproofing jobs
  • Sealing of concrete slab expansion joints
  • It is used prior to membrane application on concrete/metal surface in order to get perfect bonding of two different types of materials.
