The input raw solution for the electrodialysis is a mixture of the product required, mineral waste (salts, acids, hydroxides) and diverse by-products. After electrodialysis procedure the purified solution is usually let to the evaporation and crystallisation unit to get the final solid phase Product : Aspartame (Remove salt from the Orgainc) Sugar Product : Betain Product : Soybean oligosaccharides Product : Amino acid Product : Threonine Product : six carbon carbohydrate, MW182 Fermented Biotech L-carnitine (LC) Butyrobetaine (BB) Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) Thymidine (H) Acid-amide separation of DMCPA (4-methyl-2, 5-methoxyphenylcyclopropylamine) Production of organic acids MEGA has experience with implementations of the electrodialysis as follows: Lactic acid Citric acid, acid , acrylic acid Purifiction of sodium terephtalate Solution The electrodialysis technology was chosen due to the high efficient separation and purification abilities with low operation cost. Also the product loses are relatively low and the lost product recovery is possible. The scale-up procedure was performed - from lab experiments to pilot trials and use tests in industrial size. Other demineralization techniques as ion-exchange were also investigated, but they were not so successful. The typical electrodialysis mode is batch. The fundamental advantage is in flexibility of process control allowing to obtain wanted product quality. The CIP is incorporated to keep the stable operation capacity and also to reduce any biological contamination. The whole electrodialysis equipment and process is certified under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) quality system. The apparatus are vertically arranged (the membrane stacks – electrodialysers above hydraulic periphery – tanks & pumps) to allow easy and perfect gravity discharge and also to use available space (footprint) efficiently. The electrodialysis layout is so very compact.
