Graphite machining is used to create the tubes using processes such as extrusion, compression molding, or isostatic pressing. Each technique produces unique grades of graphite, useful for different purposes. Extruded or pressed graphite is often used in manufacturing operations. Graphite rods and plates that are isostatically crushed have substantially finer graphite particles and smoother surfaces. Its easy to specify custom different lengths, diameters, wall thicknesses, and flexibility for tubes. In contrast to metals, graphite gets stronger as the temperature rises and is less prone to degrade with time or normal wear and tear.

The graphite rods, in similar manufacturing processes to graphite tubes or tubing, can be fabricated according to custom specifications. They are cut to required sizes, shapes, diameters and length.Typically finer grain graphite is used to fabricate graphite rods, however high density and coarse grain stock is available for applications where a smooth surface or finish is not necessarily required. Rod extrusion, compression molding or isostatic pressing are the methods most commonly used in the fabrication of graphite rods, and each is more suitable to specific applications.

It is formed using select acid treated natural graphite, which is then compressed after undergoing high temperature expansion. Graphite rings are die formed compressed graphite rings. They are flexible and highly impermeable to gases and liquids. Advantage of graphite rings is long life with no hardening deformations. Installation and removal of graphite rings can be done without danger of damage on the sealing faces. Therefore they can be excellent substitute for some types of metal O-rings.
