The organization SHOHOJOGITA is a Bangla word which means “to help each other”. The principal vision is to change the fate of the rural widowed, divorced and helpless women and also men by creating employment for themselves. The inspiration and concept basically came from the feelings of love and to support the poor people. SHOHOJOGITA is absolutely a non-profitable, non-government voluntary social development organization. It is born in January 26, 2004 with the initiative of a group of youths, committed and experienced development workers. SHOHOJOGITA dreams to establish a free society from exploitation, oppression and injustice as well as a society, where each individual will be able to love and live in peace and fair share of resources belonging to the community. Aims & Objective of the organization • To promote and assist in the formation of craft artisans as economically viable groups, • To organize rural destitute people and provide them with skill training for producing different crafts as an additional income, • To provide facilities for training to the artisans and employees of the organization, • To promote thrift, savings, micro-credit, self-help, domestic practices among artisans groups in the management of their daily affairs, • To participate in national and international fairs, workshop, seminars on handicrafts, • To initiate welfare activities for poor people, such as an educational, mother & childcare facilities for better living conditions, • To establish charitable and development founds for well being of poor artisans irrespectively. They are fully autonomous in managing group affairs by following cooperative principles. At present 450 female and some male artisans are working (direct & indirect) under the banner of this organization. The artisans learn how to save a portion to their earning on a regular basis for future gainful investment. Since the artisans are the main concerns of SHOHOJOGITA, all its efforts and resources are subsidiary to the needs and benefits.
