One dresser may think cracking lines are useful, while another thinks they are totally useless. Today as yesterday, not all millers know how to dress millstones. The job of the millstone dresser is hard work.The process of dressing the stone is not automatic till date and the plant owner have to rush behind the efficient chippers. Millstone is needed to be evenly balanced and achieving the correct separation of stone is crucial to produced good quality flour. As per traditional method, the millstone is dressed manually. The tools used to dress are marking tools, balanced tools, dressing tool, bush hammers etc.The companies are fully dependent on chippers and on conventional tools, due to the high absenteeism in India the Atta plant manufacturer face the problem whenever the chippers are absent. Grains arriving in the mill usually contain foreign matter, such as strings, straw, parts of bags, wood, stones, or metal that must be removed before processing. The contaminants usually become mixed with the grains in the field and during its transfer through the various stages of the grain processing and grain-handling system. In addition, grains always contain some seeds of other plants, even if grown under the best conditions. If farming or environment conditions are poor, the amount of screenings is likely to increase. Although part of the foreign material (dockage), or all of it, is discounted in the trade, the cleaning system in the mill should be designed to allow the miller enough flexibility to properly clean any Grains arriving at the mill.

The traditional Stone Ground method grinding of wheat between stones is used to develop a flour of the highest quality. It is slow process that helps to retain the flours natural state of minerals, vitamins and proteins.

The stone ground flour motto of, nothing added nothing removed means exactly that. The goodness that goes in the top of the mill is what comes out at the bottom. The Stone Mills flour is stone ground in a very special way. This stone grinding process ensures a particularly natural and healthy end product. No iron or preservatives or any other colours or bleaching agents have been added. The stone mill is one of the original mills used for grinding wheat, uses a combination of compression, shear, and abrasion. The grinding action occurs between two stones. The material is fed into the centre of the top stone, which is fixed and does not rotate. The bottom stone is driven by a drive mechanism. The grinding gap between the stones is adjusted with a hand adjustment that raises and lowers the stone. The raw wheat material is then ground between the stationary and moving stone and the material is pushed radically to the circumference by grooves and furrows cut into the face of the stone. The ground material is discharged by the rotation motion and is conveyed out by the furrows.

Chakki milling in India is almost same as Stone milling in the western world. The basic principal of Stone milling is same as the Household Chakki milling. There are enhancements like automatic control of the spindles to adjust space between the disks. The process results in 15% to 20% starch damage and no loss of Ash.

Grains will be unloaded in the feed hopper manually. Grating is provided in the feed hopper to avoid large size impurities. Suction hood is provided on the feed hopper to extract dust generated during grain unloading. The material will be conveyed by screw conveyor to bucket elevator, which discharges the grain into pre-cleaner. The pre-cleaner is for size separation and cleaning of grain. Cleaned grains are conveyed to storage silo through bucket elevator and chain conveyor. A dust extraction system comprising of bag filter, centrifugal fan, rotary valve is provided in this section. Bag filter separates dust, and discharges clean air in the atmosphere. Pulse jet type cleaning mechanism is incorporated in the bag filter, which ensures the bags are cleaned at specified time interval.
