Prior to the sea trade, Chinese families used camphor boxes to store expensive linens, clothing and important papers.
These Antique Metal Chests made in teakwood were covered with large guage metal sheets to protect them from weathering. They usually come from the region of Gujarat and were used decades back for the purpose of storage.
This beautiful ethnic chest carved from all sides with a hinged top has its original hardware all intact. It has a very nice wear and patina all raised by a wheeled base. The wear & tear Is very consistent due to its age & usage.
