Inorganic and Organic Solvents

Leading Manufacturer, Supplier & Retailer of Xylene, Methylene Chloride, Mono Ethylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol and Toluene.

Xylene

Xylene (C 8 H 10 ), any of three isomeric dimethylbenzenes  which have the same chemical formula, C 6 H 4 (CH 3 ) 2 , but different molecular structure. All three are obtained from coal-tar distillate and petroleum as a mixture containing 50–60 percent by volume of m-xylene and 20–25 percent of each of the other isomers. The commercial xylene mixture is a colourless, nonviscous, flammable, toxic liquid that is insoluble in water but miscible with many organic liquids. Uses : Xylene is commonly used as a solvent for lacquers and rubber cements.  It is also used as solvents, as components of aviation fuel, and as raw materials for the manufacture of dyes, fibres, and films. Meta- and para-xylene undergo nitration and reduction to give xylidines and used in making dyes. The meta isomer also is converted to trinitro-t-butyl-m-xylene, or xylene musk, a component of perfumes. Oxidation of the xylenes gives monocarboxylic acids (toluic acids), and then dicarboxylic acids (phthalic acids).

Mono Ethylene Glycol

Mono Ethylene Glycol (C 2 H 6 O 2 ) is a colorless, odorless, viscous dihydroxy alcohol. It has a sweet taste, but is poisonous if ingested. Ethylene glycol is the most important glycol commercially available and is manufactured on a large scale in the United States. It is used as an antifreeze and coolant, in hydraulic fluids, and in the manufacture of low-freezing dynamites and resins. Uses : Ethylene glycol has many uses, including as antifreeze in cooling and heating systems, in hydraulic brake fluids, and as a solvent. Acute (short-term) exposure of humans to ethylene glycol by ingesting large quantities causes three stages of health effects: central nervous system (CNS) depression, followed by cardiopulmonary effects, and later renal damage. The only effects noted in one study of individuals exposed to low levels of ethylene glycol by inhalation for about a month were throat and upper respiratory tract irritation.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol (C 3 H 8 O 2 ) is a clear, colorless and liquid. usually a tasteless, odorless, and colorless clear oily liquid that is hygroscopic and miscible It is manufactured by the hydration of propylene oxide. Propylene glycol contains an asymmetrical carbon atom, so it exists in two. The commercial product is a racemic. Pure optical isomers can be obtained by hydration of optically pure. Uses : Propylene glycol is used as a solvent for intravenous, oral, and topical pharmaceutical preparations It is generally considered safe. However in large doses it can be toxic, especially if given over a short period of time. Intravenous contains the largest amount of propylene glycol of commonly used drugs. In adults with normal liver and kidney function, the terminal half-life of propylene glycol ranges from 1. 4 to 3. 3 hours. Propylene glycol is metabolized by the liver to form Propylene glycol induced intoxication can also mimic sepsis or systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Patients suspected of having sepsis with negative cultures should be evaluated for propylene glycol toxicity if they have been exposed to high dose & other medications containing this solvent.

Acetonitrile

  • CAS No. 75-05-8

Acetonitrile (ACN) is the chemical compound with formula CH 3 CN. This colourless liquid is the simplest organic nitrile. It is produced mainly as a by product of acrylonitrile manufacture. It is widely used as a polar aprotic solvent in synthetic chemistry, and as a medium-polarity solvent in HPLC. Acetonitrile is mainly used as a solvent that is miscible with water and has a convenient liquid range. With a dipole moment of 3.84 D, acetonitrile dissolves a wide range of ionic and nonpolar compounds and with its low reactivity, it does so with minimal complications .   It is widely used in battery applications because of its relatively high dielectric constant and ability to dissolve electrolytes. For similar reasons it is a popular solvent in cyclic voltammetry. Its low viscosity and low chemical reactivity make it a popular choice for liquid chromatography.    Packing: In 150 kg Iron drums
