Dr.Mohan is a well known Scientist for mushroom in India . He has rendered thirty six years of dedicated service in Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU).He has conducted many mushroom research projects with a collaboration of National Centre for Mushroom Research and Training ( NCMRT) solan functioning under the control of Indian council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) New Delhi. He has developed many low cost technology in mushroom and presented at NCMRT, solan onbehalf of TNAU.As a first time in the Indian history he released a Newsletter exclusively for Mushroom in Tamil viz; kalan seithi madal from TNAU and served as its first editor for a period of five years. In Tamilnadu Agricultural University he has conducted more than one thousand mushroom training and created a base for protein revolution. He has written five books on mushroom cultivation out of which one book viz;Oyster Mushroom production was published through National Open School (NOS),New Delhi.During his tenure in TNAU he has conducted many workshops and seminars in mushroom.He was served as a resource person and technical consultant for all Tamilnadu government mushroom projects.He was nominated as a member of mushroom project evaluation committee by Department of Science and Technology (DST) New Delhi. He has guided more than 70 post graduate students and published more than 500 research article in reputed foreign and Indian Journals.
After his retirement he has started a mushroom Institute for training with following objectives.
To provide good quality Hi -Tech mushroom training
To supply virulent mushroom Spawn(Seed)
To Solve mushroom growers field problem
To supply quality fresh and dried mushroom
To Provide virulent coco pith Spawn(Seed)
To develop mushroom growers network in Tamilnadu
Other Achivements
Won one National Award, for the invention of new method to control Panama wilt of Banana.
Visited Thailand and USA officially to acquire Plant Protection trainings in Thailand and mushroom bio technology training in Michigan state university, USA.
Appointed as Expert Committee member in Kerala Agricultural University
Appointed as Board of Study member in Annamalai University,Chidambaram
