API 5L GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe Useful Info : This specification covers seamless and welded steel line pipe. It includes standard-weight and extra-strong threaded line pipe. It includes standard-weight and extra-strong threaded line pipe; and standard-weight plain-end, regular-weight plain-end, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end pipe; as as well as bell and spigot and through-the-flow line(TFL) pipe.
The purpose of this specification is to provide standards for pipe suitable for use in conveying gas, water, and oil in both the oil and natural gas industries.
Chemical Composition : The composition of pipe furnished to this specification, as determined by heat analysis for pipe other than Grade X 80, shall conform to the chemical requirements specified in Table 2, except that by agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer carbon contents higher than those specified may be used. the composition of intermediate grades (higher than X42) shall conform to chenical requirements agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser, and such requirements shall be consistent with the requirements specified in Table 2 for the applicable type of pipe For Grades X42 and higher, by agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer, element other than columbium, vanadium, and titanium may be used; however, caution should be exercised in determining the quantity that may be present for any particular size and thickness of pipe because the addition of such otherwise desirable elements may alter the weldability of the pipe.
API 5L Line Pipe Physical Properties : Line pipe grade designations come from API Spec 5L Specification for Line Pipe. Standard Line Pipe has grade designation A and B. Stronger grades have the designation X followed by the specified minimum yield strength of the pipe steel, measured in kilopounds per square inch (abbreviated ksi), e.g. X60 for pipe having a minimum yield strength of 60 ksi. See the table below for the standard available grades.
Special Features:
API 5L GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe Application : Buildings, infrastructure, tools, ships, automobiles, machines and appliances are all made from steel. Steel is frequently used because it is durable and safe. Building materials underground may be susceptible to rotting and pests. Since steel is non-combustible and makes it harder for fire to spread, it is good to use when building homes. ASTM A106 Carbon steel pipe is highly resistant to shock and vibration. API 5L GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe is Environmentally Friendly as well Cost-Effective.
Carbon steel pipe – Examples of use : Bridges, Flood control, Harbors and airports, Building construction, Petroleum and natural gas, Wind power generation, Solar power and solar heat power generation, Geothermal power generation, Batteries and power devices etc.

A106 GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes Useful Info : ASTM A106 pipe (also covered in ASME specifications as S/A 106) is the standard specification for seamless carbon steel pipe for high-temperature service. Most common uses are in refineries and plants when gasses or fluids are transported at high temperatures and pressures.
A106 GR. B Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes Process :
Permissible Variations in Wall Thickness : The minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5% under the nominal wall thickness specified.
Permissible Variations in Weights per Foot : Weight of any length shall not vary more than 10% over and 3.5% under that specified. NOTE — NPS 4 and smaller — weighed in lots. Larger sizes shall be weighed separately by length.
Hydrostatic Testing : Inspection test pressures produce a stress in the pipe wall equal to 60% of specified minimum yield strength (SMYS) at room temperature. Maximum Pressures are not to exceed 2500 psi for NPS3 and must stay under 2800 psi for the larger sizes. Pressure is maintained for not less than 5 seconds.
Mechanical Tests Specified : Tensile Test — NPS 8 and larger — either transverse or longitudinal acceptable Smaller than NPS 8 — weighed in lots. Larger sizes — by length. Flattening Test — NPS 2-1/2 and larger. Bending Test (Cold) — NPS 2 and under.
Lengths : Lengths required shall be specified on order. No “jointers” permitted unless otherwise specified. If no definite lengths required, following practice applies: Single Random — 17′ 24′ lengths Double Random — 36′ 44′ lengths
Required Markings on Each Length : (On Tags attached to each Bundle in case of Bundled Pipe) Rolled, Stamped, or Stenciled (Mfrs. Option) Manufacturer’s name or brand. Length of pipe. A106 A, A 106 B, A 106 C. ANSI schedule number. Hydrostatic test pressures and/or NDE; Weight per foot (NPS 4 and larger) or NH if neither is specified. Additional “S” if tested supplementary requirements.

Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Pipe : Originally this type of pipe, which contains a solid phase butt weld, was produced using resistance heating to make the longitudinal weld (ERW), but most pipe mills now use high frequency induction heating (HFI) for better control and consistency. However, the product is still often referred to as ERW pipe, even though the weld may have been produced by the HFI process.
This specification covers seamless and welded steel line pipe. It includes standard-weight and extra-strong threaded line pipe. It includes standard-weight and extra-strong threaded line pipe; and standard-weight plain-end, regular-weight plain-end, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end pipe; as as well as bell and spigot and through-the-flow line (TFL) pipe.

A333 GR 3/6 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe Useful Info
This specification covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Several grades of steel are included as listed in Table 1. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect in low-temperature impact properties. The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. The inch-pound units shall apply unless the "M" designation of this specification is specified in the order.
This specification covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Several grades of ferritic steel are included. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temperature impact properties.
Mechanical Testing : Transverse or Longitudinal Tension Test and Flattening Test, Hardness Test, or Bend Test
For material heat treated in a batch-type furnace, tests shall be made on 5% of the pipe from each treated lot. For small lots, at least one pipe shall be tested.
For material heat treated by the continuous process, tests shall be made on a sufficient number of pipes to constitute 5% of the lot, but in no case less than 2 pipe.
Hydrostatic Test : Impact Test – One notched bar impact test, consisting of breaking three specimens shall be made from each heat represented in a heat-treatment load on specimens taken from the finished pipe.
Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe Application : Buildings, infrastructure, tools, ships, automobiles, machines and appliances are all made from steel. A333 GR 3/6 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe is Environmentally Friendly as well Cost-Effective.
Carbon steel pipe – Examples of use : Bridges, Flood control, Harbors and airports, Building construction, Petroleum and natural gas, Wind power generation, Solar power and solar heat power generation, Geothermal power generation, Batteries and power devices etc.
API X Grades - some of the sturdiest pipes and tubing available designed for extreme environments or exceedingly high pressure environments

Aluminium Pipe Industrial Applications:
Aluminium Pipe Alloy Designations: The aluminum industry has created a system using a four-digit numerical designation to identify wrought aluminum alloys. The first digit indicates the major alloying element. The second digit indicates whether there was a modification in the basic alloy. The third and fourth digit indicates the specific alloy. The following represent the various groups:
Alloy Designations:
1XXX | Aluminum 99% or greater |
---|---|
2XXX | Copper – major alloying element |
3XXX | Manganese – major alloying element |
5XXX | Magnesium – major alloying element |
6XXX | Magnesium and silicon – major alloying elements |
7XXX | Zinc -major alloying element |

Aluminium Alloy and Its Importance :
Pure aluminium is soft and ductile and most commercial uses require greater strength than pure aluminium affords. So strength is achieved by the addition of other elements to produce alloys. Further strengthening is possible by means which classify the alloys roughly into two categories, non-heat-treatable and heat treatable.
Non-heat-treatable Alloys :
The strength of alloys in this group depends upon the hardening effect of elements such as manganese, silicon, iron and magnesium. Since these alloys are work-hardenable, strength levels are controlled by various degrees of cold working, denoted by the ‘H’ series of tempers. Alloys containing appreciable amounts of magnesium when supplied in strain-hardened tempers are usually given a final elevated-temperature treatment called stabilizing to ensure stability of properties
