Large Cardamom is a perennial herb with subterranean rhizomes and 50-140 aerial leafy shoots. Each shoot has height of 1.7 to 2.6 mtr and possess 9 to 13 leaves in each tiller. Leaves are glabrous on both sides with a prominent mid-rib. Inflorescence is a condensed spike with yellowish perianth. Each spike has 10-15 fruits. Fruit is round or oval shape, capsule with reddish brown colour. Each capsule is trilocular with many seeds.

Lakadong Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) has High Curcumin. The Curcumin content in Lakadong Turmeric is between 6 to 7%, which is one of the highest, as against a mere 2 to 3% in most varieties of turmeric. Lakadong Turmeric (Curcuma Longa)is indigenous to Meghalaya. It grows in a small region in the West Jaintia Hills district, one of the eleven districts of Meghalaya.

The areca nut is not a true nut, but rather a fruit categorized as a berry. It is commercially available in dried, cured and fresh forms. When the husk of the fresh fruit is green, the nut inside is soft enough to be cut with a typical knife. In the ripe fruit, the husk becomes yellow or orange and, as it dries, the fruit inside hardens to a wood-like consistency. At that stage, the areca nut can only be sliced using a special scissors-like cutter.
