Sand stone is a sedimentary rock and is durable, acid and alkaline resistant and look unique in all of its different colors. Kota stones are fine-grained variety of  limestone . The rich greenish-blue and brown colours of these stones are most popular. This is because they have the unique properties of limestone. Slate is a very fine grained metamorphic rock derived from the sedimentary rock 'shale'. Slate is composed mostly of mica, chlorite and quartz. Slate  is impermeable, hard, close in texture, quick drying, frost resistant, fine grained and fissile – i.e. it splits easily into thin layers. It is brittle and needs to be handled carefully.
