Halan International, a part of Elk Hill group, based in South India, deals with export of organic black tea and green tea varieties, farm fresh high-quality vegetables, and forest raw honey from the beautiful mountainous regions of The Nilgiris (Meaning: The Blue Mountains). The vegetables are directly procured from farmers while tea varieties are purchased from factories and auction centers and then blended to suit the customer’s requirement. Our honey comes as wild forest raw honey which is 100 % organic, obtained from the tribal bee hunters and wild bee hives found deep within the virgin forests and rocks of Nilgiri highlands. Please note that our honey is produced from indigenous wild rock bees and not from domesticated honey bees.
Elk Hill group is also developing its own organic and biodynamic farms, a toxic chemical-free farming practice, by sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture models that support both agricultural production and also the biodiversity conservation of the local landscape.
The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve is an International Biosphere Reserve in the Western Ghats and Nilgiri Hills ranges of South India, which is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 2012.
Elk Hill also works on ground level with farmers with the aim of achieving a pesticide-free Nilgiris for moving towards organic and sustainable farming through actively participating and spreading awareness among local people in collaboration with various agencies and the NGOs like the Earth Trust and Garden of Hope Trust of Nilgiris.
