About JaivikFood
Driven by the need and easy availability of Safe and Healthy Organic Food, we founded Himalayan Organic Produce Co. and launched“JaivikFood” in Delhi/NCR to provide Organic food grown in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. “Jaivik“ relates to Jaivik Kheti or Sajeev Kheti in Hindi which translates to “Organic Agriculture” or “Life Agriculture” and is based on the concept that Soils are Alive.
With support from the Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board, we have been helping registered organic farmers to produce and market their fresh organic produce in Delhi and Noida. 
We are also working with Women’s Self help groups in the interior of Uttarakhand region and promoting their produce like Pickles, Jams, Juices, Spices etc. through WWOOF India Organics Pvt Ltd. (Willing Workers on Organic Farms). Some of these groups are under the Women Livelihood Projects for disaster affected hill regions in Uttarakhand.
The fresh farm produce, which is free from ill effects of toxins like chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, is harvested and collected from different Organic farmers and delivered next day to doorsteps of customers in Delhi /NCR who place pre-orders.
We at Himalayan Organic Produce Company believe in the following three principles:
1) Organic, healthy and safe food for people
2) Right price to farmers for their produce
3) Toxin free, living soil for generations to come
We firmly believe that the promotion of Organic food in big cities like Delhi NCR will help the small scale farmers by giving them their dues and thus discouraging the blind migration and soil degeneration. Easy availability and accessibility of pure Organic food grown in pollution free environment is an issue in Delhi NCR and JaivikFood endeavours to bridge this gap.

After spending more than three decades in IT industry, I decided to pursue my passion of working towards the upliftment of the poor and marginalised farmers and evangelise organic farming and consumption of organic produce. I have been engaged with Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board since 2012 and also trained on the principles of Organic farming.
The attraction of urbanisation and low earnings from farming is pushing youth to migrate to big cities in search of greener pastures. In the process, the beautiful and highly fertile land of Uttarakhand is becoming a barren land. Uttarakhand farming in hilly regions is Organic by default as farmers depend upon rain gods for irrigation and were not in a position to use synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. While living in Delhi/Noida, we have little or no choice of eating pure food. On top of chemically produced vegetables and fruits, we suffer from the misuse of artificial colours and fruit ripening chemicals in Mandis. Availability and accessibility of Organic (Jaivik) food is an issue and JaivikFood is an attempt to bridge this gap. I hope the promotion of Organic food in big cities like Delhi NCR will help the small scale farmers by giving them their dues and thus discourage the blind migration
