For applications that do not require continuous illumination, xenon flash lamps are a convenient source of ultraviolet (UV) and visible light. These lamps are compact and generate a minimal amount of heat and are available in sizes ranging from 5 to 60 watts. The amount of output light, pulse width and repetition rate can be easily controlled. Socket assemblies and power supplies are optional. Complete lamp modules, consisting of xenon flash lamp and all of the electronics, are also available. They are used in microtiter plate readers, in-vitro diagnostics, spectrophotometer and factory automation.
