Reverse osmosis (RO) is the most economical method of removing 90% to 99% of all contaminants. The pore structure of RO membranes is much tighter than UF membranes. The softeners are charged with a high capacity polystyrene bead cation exchange resin in sodium form. When hard water passes through this resin column, the hardness forming calcium and magnesium salts are replaced with sodium salts which do not posses any hardness properties. This dosing system consists of a dosing pump with chemical storage tank. In this tank an antiscalant chemical is added in proportionate dosage in order to prevent the scaling tendency (like ca&mg scales) in the raw water before passing to membrane system. This chemical is to be added with dosage of 5ppm of the raw water quantity. The chemical is added in 25ltrs of water and passed to dosing pump.

This pump buildup high-pressures for filtering the dissolved solids minerals from raw water and it used to pressurize the water up to 0-16kgcm2 and this water is supplied to membrane system.

The product water of the R.O plant will have less TDS.So; a blending line from the raw water will be added to the storage tank in order to have minimum minerals of the water for drinking purpose.
