Tantalum can also be dissolved with hydrofluoric acid or acidic solutions containing the fluoride ion and sulfur trioxide, as well as with a solution of potassium hydroxide.

Titanium is an alloy that is as strong as steel but much less dense. It is 45% lighter than steel and only 60% heavier than aluminum.
