Eco-mark is issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as a certification mark for the products which are ecologically safe conforming to the standards prescribed by the BIS. The scheme first saw its application in 1991. It is voluntary in nature and helps in identifying eco-friendly products in the market. The mark is being issued in around 16 categories like food, medicines, chemicals, electronic goods, paper, lubricating oils, packing materials etc. The Eco-mark scheme falls under the ambit of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Bureau of indian standards (bis) has been operating a foreign manufacturers certification scheme (fmcs) since the year 2000. under fmcs, licence is granted to a foreign manufacturer for use of standard mark on a product that conforms to an indian standard. The scheme is applicable for grant of licence for all products except electronics and it goods notified by deity. The licence is granted by foreign manufacturers certification department (fmcd) located at bis headquarters, new delhi. The bis licence is granted for a location where the product is manufactured and tested as per relevant indian standard(s) and standard mark is applied on the product conforming to such indian standard(s)

Tec stands for telecommunication engineering centre. Tec facilitates department of telecommunications, government of india in drafting and implementing various standards and policies for safe and secure use of emerging technologies in telecommunications.Tec had released specifications for the quality measures for the telecom equipments. These specifications can be categorised as generic requirements (grs), interface requirements (irs) and service requirements (sr). Tec is responsible to issue various approvals such as interface approvals, certificate of approvals, service approvals & type approvals. The telecom product or network which interfaces with indian telecom network should comply to its tec generic requirement (gr). After successful evaluation , the product will be granted and type approved. Separate generic requirements is available by tec for each type of product. Type approval is granted to eligible applicants only.
