Amaryl (Glimepiride) is an oral medication used to lower blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes) patients. This medication is prescribed when high levels of blood sugar cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. It belongs to sulfonylurea class of diabetic drugs, which works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin.
