The purpose of Brush Gear Assembly in Turbo Generators & D.C. Exciters & motors is to transfer the current smoothly and effectively from static part of rotating element and vice versa. It consists of Carbon Brushes , Brush Holders and Clamps. The Carbon Brushes in touch with slip rings or commutators is held in a Brush Holder and Clamp Assembly. The inside wall of brush Holder should be smooth with good finish and close to ensure satisfactory sliding. Different Brush Holders and Carbon Brushes are used for Turbo Generator Exciters and Industrial Motors and Generators, SlipRings.
