Petroleum coke also known as Pet Coke has some remarkable features that separates it from other grades of coal. Pet Coke is basically a carbonaceous solid delivered from oil refinery coker units or by cracking processes. The coke processed can be either be fuel grade (one which is high in sulphur and metals) or anode grade ( that is low in sulphur amd metals).
Pet Coke is generally 90% carbon and emits 5 to 10% more carbon dioxide than coal when burned. Majorly CO2 production depends upon the moisture content in the coal and on the volatile hydrocarbon content.
