The garden pansy plant is an adaptable and distinctive hybrid plant cultivated as a garden flower. Pansy plants have large, cheerful, blooming flowers, and are widely available during winters.

Pansy petals are usually white or yellow, purplish, or blue and have one of the three basic color patterns. Pattern one which has single, clear color, such as yellow or blue which remains to be outer petal. A second pattern is a single color having black lines radiating from its center. The last type of flower has a dark center called a “face” and have delicate perfume-like aroma.

It can be grown from seeds or purchased as seedlings from the local garden center. Choose seedlings that are bushy and robust containing one or more buds. When growing by seeds ensure cooler temperature and darkness as these conditions enhances germination. Plant the seedlings in a soil rich in organic material such as compost. Also add well rotted leaves which make the soil  well-draining.
