A similar effect is observed under various circumstances of tension and cracks that occur at a substantially lower level of stress in the absence of such conditions.

Presto’s Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance is widely used to measure the cracking resistance of plastics due to environmental stress, which is necessarily the abstract of various parameters.  It is influenced by the design of the container, molding conditions, treatments during and after production and other related factors that affect this.
