BHAJI (PAO) Snack

Pao–bhaji is a fast food dish native to Maharashtra and is popular in most metropolitan areas in India particularly in Mumbai and Gujarat. The origin of this dish is traced to the Heyday of Textile-Mills in Mumbai. A combination of many vegetables cooked together in a special blend of spices. Pao bhaji consist of bhaji garnished with coriander, chopped onion and a dash of lemon and baked pao. The pao is usually buttered on all sides. It is consumed as a snack between lunch and dinner or as a light evening meal. A meal for people in hurry on the streets. This is truly an innovation that arose out of the necessity of providing a nice hot meal in hurry and one that tickles the taste buds. Bhaji is a mashed mixed vegetable curry prepared with pao–bhaji masala.
