The aim of the project ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS MONITORING THROUGH VOICE is to design a system using which various physical parameters like light, temperature, humidity and fire of environment can be monitored through a PC using the microcontroller 8051 and a font end software C# .NET. In this competitive world and busy schedule human can’t spare more time to perform daily activities manually. It is very easy to control devices through PC instead of controlling devices manually. To communicate any device to pc needs HyperTerminal which is understand only by technical people. But it is better to have any extra communication in between PC and device. So that we have tool called as “front ends”. These front ends are very good and which are very easy. Non technical people easily interact with device from PC easily. These front end tools are designed by C# .net application. Communication has good visibility and good interaction in front ends (These front ends may vary from project to project). This project is very useful in industries and is designed in such a way that the controller is interfaced to PC using serial communication technique. Serial communication is often used either to control or to receive data from an embedded microprocessor. In serial communication the data is sent as one bit at a time. Serial communication is a form of I/O in which the bits of a byte being transferred appear one after the other in a timed sequence on a single wire. Serial communication is commonly used in applications such as industrial automation systems, scientific analysis and certain consumer products. Here the communication is established between the PC and the controller by a line driver IC max232 which acts as a voltage converter. And the sensors such as humidity sensor, fire sensor and an LDR which detect the humidity, fire and light respectively are interfaced to the controller through the operational amplifier IC LM358. And the temperature sensor will be interfaced to the controller through ADC0804 IC to convert the analog the analog value of temperature to the digital value. So the controller continuously monitors the status of the sensors and sends the related data to the serial port. C# application always interact with serial port and continuously receives the updates from the sensors ,according to that it gives the voice output through the speakers of the PC. This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer.

According to ancient Greek scripts BIOMETRICS means study of life. Biometrics studies commonly include fingerprint, face, iris, voice, signature and hand geometry recognition and verification. Many other modalities are in various stages of development and assessment. Among these available biometric traits Finger Print proves to be one of the best traits providing good mismatch ratio and also reliable. Registering the attendances of students has become a hectic task as sometimes their attendance may be registered or missed. To overcome this problem i.e. to get the attendances registered perfectly, we are taking the help of two different technologies viz. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS and BIOMETRICS. Firstly discussing about Biometrics we are concentrating on Fingerprint scanning. For this we are using FIM 3030N high voltage module as a scanner. This module has in-built ROM, DSP and RAM. In this we can store the fingerprints of up to 100 users. This module can operate in 2 modes i.e., Master mode and User mode. We will be using Master mode to register the fingerprints which will be stored in the ROM present on the scanner with a unique id. The fingerprint module will be interfaced with the microcontroller through serial interface. The images of the students of a particular class will be scanned and stored in the microcontroller. The students have to scan their images to register their attendance daily. When the student has to register his attendance on that particular day, he has to scan his fingerprint image. The fingerprint module scans the student’s image and passes the scanned image to the microcontroller. The controller reads the scanned image, compares this image with the already stored image. If both are matched, the student’s attendance will be registered for that day. If it is not matched, the student’s attendance will be marked as absent and buzzer indication will be given. By simply pressing a switch, we can get the list of absentees for that day. We can see details on 16X2 LCD. (In this project we can connect microcontroller to PC and PC maintain presents and absents list with help of C# application-But it is optional).
