DESCRIPTION :

Insulating powder apparatus is designed to determine the thermal conductivity of insulating powerders. The apparatus consists of two thin walled concentric copper spheres. Inner sphere houses nichrome hetaing coil. Insulating powder is filled between the spherres. Heat flows radially outwards. Surface temperature of sprehers & heat input are measured by panelised instruments.

SPECIFICATION :
1)  Inner sphere dia - 100mm.
2)  Outer sphere dia-200mm
3)  Heater-Nichrome wire sandwithched between mica sheets.
4)  Control Panel comprisising of 
a)  Voltmeter : 0 - 100 / 200 volts
b)  Ammeter : 0 - 2 A
c)  Dimmerstat : 0 - 2 A
d)  Digital Temperature Indicator, 0-300-0C with 10 Leastcount using chromel alumel thermocouples. Provided with cold junction compensation.  
EXPERIMENTATION :
1)  Determination of thermal conductivity of Insulating powder
2)  Comparison of thermal Dconductivities at various temperatures.

SERVICE REQUIRED :
1)  A.C. 230 V single phase stabilised supply with earthig connection
2)  Floor of 0.75 m x 1.5m at working height.
