This product is made by Narhari Das, Odisha. Narhari Das is a master artist in patta chatra painting. He is devoted to his art like surdas was to his music and poetry. Patta Chitra is one of the oldest art forms that depicted the mythological tales in a creative form on cloth based canvas.To survive and sustain the art form in a contemporary design Punarnawa has trained more than 100 artisans from 40 families in Patta Chitra design workshop that was held in year 2013 in collaboration with State Institute for the Development of Arts & Crafts, Odisha. It is an initiative to make the traditional art forms popular and utility oriented. You can use it for your iPad or Tablet. Sleeves can be used as folders and organisers. It makes a stylish organiser for your cloth wardrobe or travelling bag. It is washable and color fast. Traditionally Patta Chitra used natural colors derived from the minerals and herbs on a homemade canvas. There are fine artists who have still kept this art alive with little or no recognition or support. Narhari sir is one such gem who loves his art and sketches while humming folk songs. He is trying to make a painting for his national award application and he is struggling to finish it because he feels it is still not enough.
