ultramarine pigments show many advantages when used in rubber compounds. the shades obtained are bright at various pigmentation level and also quite fast to light. The pigment being insoluble in nature does not bleed. Due to high thermal stability of ultramarine blue in general, much in excess to that used in rubber manufacture, it has found successful use even in rigorous application such as the silicone rubber.

application:

ultramarine blue due to its very low toxicity has been approved as a colourant for use in food contact rubber, plastics and textiles provided it meets specific purity standard.

there are further considerations such as pigments used in surface coating which may well be eaten accidentally . These include cosmetics, pencil lacquers and paints used in childrens toys. Ultramarine is universally permitted in all these applications provided it meets certain specific purity standards.

sbps ultramarine blue due to its high purity standard can be used in wrapping paper manufacture , wrapper printing inks and as colourant for plastic container in contact with food and drinking water and to materials used in food handling machinery viz conveyor belting .
