Cow dung (or cow manure) is the undigested, nutrient-rich residue of herbivorous bovine matter, composed primarily of water, lignin, cellulose, and bacteria. As a greenish-to-blackish, fibrous waste, it acts as an excellent, natural, organic fertilizer, rich in nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), which improves soil aeration and fertility. Composition and Properties Nutrient Profile: Contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, making it a valuable source of plant nutrients. Composition: Comprises about 80% water, along with fibrous material like cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Microbial Content: Rich in beneficial microbes such as Saccharomyces, Lactobacillus, Bacillus, Streptococcus, and Candida. Appearance: Typically greenish to blackish when fresh, darkening upon exposure to air, and turning yellowish when dry.
