The crankshafts are forged using medium carbon alloy steel with annealing and normalizing. Further, the forgings are shot blasted to achieve a superior finish on the forging surface, and meticulous crack detection tests are carried out a magnaflux crack detector. The crankshafts' journals are hardened using aeg-elotherm equipment to ensure uniform hardness and hardness depth; moreover, the journals are ground, lapped and polished with precision grinders and micro polishing machines.
