Conveyor Chain

The precision conveyor chain, like transmission chain, consists of a series of journal bearings held in precise relationship to each other by constraining link plates. Each bearing consists of a bearing pin and bush on which the chain roller revolves. The bearing pin and bush are case-hardened to allow articulation under high pressures, and to contend with the load carrying pressure and gearing action imparted via the chain rollers. There is, for each strength of conveyor chain, a range of pitches; the minimum pitch being governed by the need for adequate wheel tooth strength; the maximum pitch being normally dictated by plate and general chain rigidity. When required, the normal maximum pitch can be exceeded by the use of strengthening bushes between the link plates, and suitable gaps to clear the bushes must be provided in the wheel teeth.

Elevator Chain

Bucket elevators are used in various processes in the cement industry to raise materials typically 30 to 40 metres. Some of these may be belt and bucket type, others will be chain type. The size and type of chain will depend on the height and duty of the levator but output can reach 450 m3/hr. Chains range from 136kN to 1000kN breaking load. These have buckets fixed to one or two strands of chain. The buckets are shaped so that when passing over the headwheel the back of each bucket acts as a chute for material discharged from the following bucket. Feeding of the elevator is achieved by a loading leg or chute.

All toothed wheels look like sprockets but never performs alike. That makes the purchase of sprockets critical. Link Plates Plates are made from a special steel which can withstand sudden loads and provides maximum resistance to breakage

Bearing Pins Pins are manufactured from a special steel which has excellent resistance to bending. This increases the wear life of the chain.

Inner Link Plates Movement of the inner plates is improved by close control of the pin and plate hole dimensions. This reduces rubbing (friction) to a minimum so the chain operates more economically and efficiently.
