140 K Series 2 cabs are designed to keep operators comfortable and productive. Features like low effort pedals and controls, adjustable implement controls and adjustable steering wheel angle make work easier for the operator. A clear view to the moldboard heel and tandem tires enhance productivity and safe operation.
The instrument panel, with easy-to read, high-visibility gauges and warning lamps, places vital machine information and diagnostic capability in easy view of the operator. The dash includes an engine coolant temperature gauge, an articulation gauge, voltage gauge and fuel level gauge. Service brake air pressure gauges are also standard. All major systems are monitored by warning lights.
Some additional cab features include storage area, adjustable control console and coat hook. Optional offerings include power port, air conditioner/heater, suspension seat, defroster fan, sun shade, backup lights, Product Link ready, and AccuGrade System ready. Cat AccugradeAccuGrade uses positioning and guidance technologies, machine sensors, and automatic blade control to help operators get to grade faster, easier and more efficiently. Digital design plans, real-time cut/fill data, and in-cab guidance give operators detailed information to work more confidently and achieve greater accuracy, in fewer passes, using less material. Operators can stay on grade and improve productivity and accuracy by nearly 50 percent over conventional methods. Grade stakes and checkers are minimized, making the work site safe, efficient, and cost effective. AccuGrade technologies include Cross Slope, Sonic, Laser, GPS, and/or Universal Total Station (UTS).

SHEAR PERFORMANCE - With high-powered ranging arms and haulage units, Cat shearers cut and load up to 5000 tons (5, 500 tons) per hour and more, depending on mining conditions. The unique, one-piece mainframe design offers maximum structural integrity and service life. The mainframe is available as a split unit in the event of transportation limitations. Featuring the superior Jumbo track shearer haulage system, the shearer also offers advanced integrated automation and communication options.
Moving Mountains - No matter how fast your shearer can cut, you cant keep cutting until you move the coal away from the face. Cat Armored Face Conveyors (AFCs) are designed to keep things moving and to carry the maximum possible amount of coal smoothly away from the coalface. They are designed for high availability and economy in operation. They are easy to maintain and offer long service life and a great return on investment to mine operators.

The intrinsically-safe Cat PMC-R control units are used on shearer or plow faces to provide medium to high level of longwall automation. Each Roof Support needs to be equipped with one PMC-R control unit and a solenoid driver to operate the in-shield hydraulic functions and a set of peripheral components, like sensors for pressures and shield advance. The PMC-R can control and display all functions of a shield and is simultaneously the interface between operator and machine (HMI). The PMC-R system can control all individual shield functions based on a reliable network. As an interactive system, it allows the user to execute single shield functions as well as automatic functions. Important process values are continuously displayed as feedback for the operator.
