About Zardozi: Zardozi is raised colored metallic threadwork in intricate designs. Parts of it can be gold & silver toned with springs & coils. The art of Zardozi embroidery uses gold wire (zari). The process of making the gold wire (zari) is extremely intricate and involves heating the gold wire and a silver bar in the furnace to form an alloy. Gold-coated silver wire is extruded from this alloy and this wire when wrapped around a silk thread forms zari.Small patterns take days to finish. Large, extensive patterns are completed over weeks. Precautions: Professional Cleaning recommended. Do not use harsh chemicals, may damage or fade the rug. Blot spills immediately with clean dry cloth. Do not pull loose ends. Clip them with scissors to remove. Shedding of loose fibers is normal and will diminish with regualr vacuuming. Keep away from excessive moisture. To prevent dust and crumbs from setting into your rug, vacuum regularly.
