Nickel Boron

Nickel Boron is a silvery-white metal that takes on a high polish. It belongs to the transition metals, and is hard and ductile. It occurs most usually in combination with sulfur and iron in pentlandite, with sulfur in millerite, with arsenic in the mineral nickeline, and with arsenic and sulfur in nickel glance.

Similar to the massive forms of chromium, aluminium and titanium, nickel is a very reactive element, but is slow to react in air at normal temperatures and pressures. Due to its permanence in air and its inertness to oxidation, it is used in coins, for plating iron, brass, etc., for chemical apparatus, and in certain alloys, such as German silver.

Cobalt Boron

Cobalt-Boron alloy has been deposited on steel from an alkaline citrate bath. Uniform deposits have been obtained in the current density range of 8-15 Adm-2. Cyclic voltammeter studies on platinum from this bath reveal that the cobalt citrate complexes undergo stepwise electro nation with the participation of hydroxyl ions. The borates undergo reduction to boron in the alloy deposition. The hydrogen evolution reaction has been found to be hindered by cobalt and borate ions. Stripping Volta metric curves on the alloy film suggest the dissolution of cobalt from a cobalt rich phase.

Chrome Boron

Hard chromium layers (over 10 micrometres) can be used in various applications and consequently subject to different types of quality requirements. Hard chromium layers on piston rods of hydraulic cylinders are tested on corrosion resistance in salt spray cabinets. Because these are destructive tests, only representative sample material can be tested. The salt spray solutions and the conditions in the cabinet are normed as well as the evaluation of the result after the test. The duration of the test is depending the agressivity of the test and the standard the industry has developed for this type of materials. Typically for engineering purposes the hardness value will be between 800 - 1000 HV500 when subject to a Vickers hardness test. In general there is a requirement that the deposit be uniform in thickness on all surfaces, and should be smooth, homogeneous and free from frosty areas, pin holes, pits, nodules, and other defects.

Silica Gel

Silica gel is most commonly encountered in everyday life as beads packed in a semi-permeable plastic. In this form, it is used as a desiccant to control local humidity in order to avoid spoilage of some goods. Because of poisonous dopants (see below) and their very high absorption of moisture, silica gel packets usually bear warnings for the user not to eat the contents, but to throw them away instead. If consumed, the pure silica gel is unlikely to cause acute or chronic illness, but would be problematic nonetheless.

Lithium Borate

Lithium Borate can be used in the laboratory as buffer for gel electrophoresis of DNA and RNA. It has a lower conductivity, produces crisper resolution, and can be run at higher speeds than can gels made from TBE or TAE (5-50Vcm as compared to 5-10Vcm). At a given voltage, the heat generation and thus the gel temperature is much lower than with TBETAE buffers, therefore the voltage can be increased to speed up electrophoresis so that a gel run takes only a fraction of the usual time. Downstream applications, such as isolation of DNA from a gel slice or Southern blot analysis, work as expected with lithium boric acid gels. Lithium borate is also an ingredient for use in making glasses and ceramics.

Sodium Borate

Borax (from Persian burah), also called sodium borate, or sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid. It is usually a white powder consisting of soft colorless crystals that dissolve easily in water.

Borax has a wide variety of uses. It is a component of many detergents, cosmetics, and enamel glazes. It is also used to make buffer solutions in biochemistry, as a fire retardant, as an anti-fungal compound for fiberglass, as an insecticide, as a flux in metallurgy, and as a precursor for other boron compounds.

The term borax is used for a number of closely related minerals or chemical compounds that differ in their crystal water content, but usually refers to the decahydrate. Commercially sold borax is usually partially dehydrated.

Sodium Metaborate

Borates in chemistry are chemical compounds containing boron bonded to three oxygen atoms written as B(OR)3. In B(OR)4 anions, this number increases to four.

The borate ion is BO33. it forms salts with metallic elements. Boron found in nature is commonly as a borate mineral. Boron is also found combined with silicate to form complex borosilicate minerals such as the tourmalines.

Borate exists in many forms. In acid and near-neutral conditions, it is boric acid, commonly written as H3BO3 but more correctly B(OH)3. The pKa of boric acid is 9.14 at 25C. Boric acid does not dissociate in aqueous solution, but is acidic due to its interaction with water molecules, forming tetrahydroxyborate:

B(OH)3+H2O.B(OH)4+H+
Ka=5.8x1010 moll; pKa=9.24.

Polyborate anions are formed at pH 710 if the boron concentration is higher than about 0.025 molL. The best known of these is the tetraborate ion, found in the mineral borax:

4B(OH)4 + 2H+ B4O72 + 9H2O

Even though boric acid adds hydroxide to form B(OH)4, you may find for pKa values and other calculations, the fictitious ions are easier to use. Thus for a typical polyprotic acid, the deprotonation series dihydrogen borate [H2BO3], hydrogen borate [HBO32] and borate [BO33] may be written as pH increases.

Inhalation : Inhalation of dust is corrosive to mucous membranes. Oxalates can be absorbed through the lungs. Symptoms of poisoning include nervousness, cramps, central nervous system depression.

Ingestion : Mean lethal dose for oxalates in adults is estimated at 15-30 grams with death within a few hours or even minutes. Corrosive action on the mucosa and severe gastrointestitis can occur with pain, vomiting, etc. Sharp reduction of serum calcium can cause disfunction of the brain. Calcium oxalate may be deposited in the kidneys.

Skin Contact : Corrosive. Symptoms of redness, pain, and severe burn can occur.

Eye Contact : Corrosive. Contact can cause blurred vision, redness, pain and severe tissue burns.

Chronic Exposure : Circulatory failure or nervous system irregularities may follow prolonged calcium metabolism disturbances due to oxalation.

Ferric Sulfate

We are offering ferric sulfate. Iron(iii) sulfate, is a compund of iron and sulfate (made of sulfur and oxygen atoms). The compund is different from the more common iron(ii) sulfate in that the ratio of sulfate ions to iron ions is larger.

usually yellow, it is a rhombic crystalline salt and soluble in water at room temperature. It is used in dyeing as a mordant, and as a coagulant for industrial wastes. It is also used in pigments, and in pickling baths for aluminum and steel. Medically it is used as an astringent and styptic.

ferric sulfate is produced on a large scale by reacting sulfuric acid with a hot solution of ferrous sulfate, using an oxidizing agent (such as nitric acid or hydrogen peroxide).

Manganese Sulfate

Manganese(II) sulfate is the inorganic compound with the formula MnSO4. This colourless deliquescent solid is a commercially significant manganese(II) salt. Approximately 260M kgy were produced worldwide in 2005.[1] It is the precursor to manganese metal and many chemical compounds. Mn-deficient soil is remediated with this salt.

Like many metal sulfates, manganese sulfate forms a variety of hydrates: monohydrate, tetrahydrate, pentahydrate, heptahydrate. The monohydrate is most common. All of these salts are faintly pink. The pale color of Mn(II) salts is characteristic of high-spin complexes with the d5 configuration.

Lithium Sulfate

Lithium sulfate is a white inorganic salt used to treat bipolar disorder (see Lithium pharmacology). It is soluble in water, though it does not follow the usual trend of solubility versus temperature its solubility in water decreases with increasing temperature. This property is shared with few inorganic compounds, such as the lanthanide sulfates.

Aluminum Sulfate

Aluminium sulfate, written as Al2(SO4)3 or Al2O12S3, is a widely used industrial chemical. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as alum, as it is closely related to this group of compounds. It occurs naturally as the mineral alunogenite. It is frequently used as a flocculating agent in the purification of drinking water[1][2] and waste water treatment plants, and also in paper manufacturing.

Aluminium sulfate is rarely, if ever, encountered as the anhydrous salt. It forms a number of different hydrates, of which the hexadecahydrate Al2(SO4)316H2O and octadecahydrate Al2(SO4)318H2O are the most common.

Barium Sulfate

Barium sulfate is frequently used clinically as a radiocontrast agent for X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures. It is most often used in imaging of the GI tract during what is colloquially known as a 'Barium meal'.

It is administered, orally or by enema, as a suspension of fine particles in an aqueous solution (often with sweetening agents added). Although barium is a heavy metal, and its water-soluble compounds are often highly toxic, the extremely low solubility of barium sulfate protects the patient from absorbing harmful amounts of the metal. Barium sulfate is also readily removed from the body, unlike Thorotrast, which it replaced. Due to the relatively high atomic number (Z = 56) of barium, its compounds absorb X-rays more strongly than compounds derived from lighter nuclei.

Calcium Sulfate

We are offering calcium sulfate is a common laboratory and industrial chemical. In the form of -anhydrite (the nearly anhydrous form), it is used as a desiccant. It is also used as a coagulant in products like tofu. In the natural state, unrefined calcium sulfate is a translucent, crystalline white rock. When sold under the name drierite, it appears blue or pink due to impregnation with cobalt chloride, which functions as a moisture indicator. The hemihydrate (caso4.0.5h2o) is better known as plaster of paris, while the dihydrate (caso4.2h2o) occurs naturally as gypsum. The anhydrous form occurs naturally as -anhydrite. Depending on the method of calcination of calcium sulfate dihydrate, specific hemihydrates are sometimes distinguished alpha-hemihydrate and beta-hemihydrate. They appear to differ only in crystal size. Alpha-hemihydrate crystals are more prismatic than beta-hemihydrate crystals and when mixed with water form a much stronger and harder superstructure.

Zinc Sulfate

Zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) is a colorless crystalline, water-soluble chemical compound. The hydrated form, ZnSO47H2O, the mineral goslarite, was historically known as "white vitriol" and can be prepared by reacting zinc with aqueous sulfuric acid. It may also be prepared by adding solid zinc to a Copper II Sulfate solution. (Zn+CuSO4ZnSO4+Cu) It is used to supply zinc in animal feeds, fertilizers, and agricultural sprays. ZnSO47H2O is used in making lithopone, in coagulation baths for rayon, in electrolytes for zinc plating, as a mordant in dyeing, as a preservative for skins and leather and in medicine as an astringent and emetic.

An aqueous solution of zinc sulfate is claimed to be effective at removing moss from roofs. Spraying a mixture on moss will allow the wind to simply blow off the remaining debris, however it is not recommended for use on lawns as it is as effective at removing grass.

Zinc Gluconate

Zinc gluconate is the zinc salt of gluconic acid. It is an ionic compound consisting of two moles of gluconate for each mole of zinc. Zinc gluconate is a popular form for the delivery of zinc as a dietary supplement.

Gluconic acid is found naturally, and is industrially manufactured by the fermentation of glucose, typically by Aspergillus niger, but also by other fungi, e.g. Penicillium, or by bacteria, e.g. Acetobacter, Pseudomonas and Gluconobacter. In its pure form, it is a white to off-white powder. It can also be manufactured by electrolytic oxidation, although this is a more expensive process. The advantages are a lower microbiological profile, and a more complete reaction, yielding a product with a longer shelf life.

Ammonium Formate

Ammonium formate, NH4HCO2, is the ammonium salt of formic acid. It is a colorless, hygroscopic, crystalline solid. Pure ammonium formate decomposes into formamide and water when heated, and this is its primary use in industry. Formic acid can also be obtained by reacting ammonium formate with a dilute acid, and since ammonium formate is also produced from formic acid, it can serve as a way of storing formic acid.
