The Air Classifier is a centrifugal type classifier used to separate dry powdered materials into fine and coarse fractions. It may be operated in closed circuit with a grinding mill or used in open circuit operation, receiving the feed from hoppers, bins screens.
The classifier fineness characteristics are controlled mainly by changing the number, size of whizzer blades or by adjustment of vertical slide dampers. These adjustments can be conveniently made to produce the product of required fineness. Tyco classifiers are capable of delivering fine products from 8085 % passing 60 mesh to as fine as 99.9% passing through 100 mesh depending upon the material characteristics.
When operated in closed circuit, combination with a Pulveriser the separator skims off the fines as fast as they are made, so that the mill works only on fresh material without wasting power. The tailings are discharge back to the mill for further reduction. The reground material is returned to the separator with the feed, so that constant circulating load set up between the mill & the separator.
A substantially longer jaw life is achieved as a result of the unique jaw geometry. The centerline of crushing zone is aligned with the hinge pin center and the material to be crushed is held firmly by the straight line crushing action of the jaws. This principle uses pure compression to crush, eliminating rubbing within the crushing chamber. Double toggle action ensures crushing even on the down stroke and provides maximum mechanical advantage to the eccentric. Lighter pitman and toggles reduce inertia, and enables a greater through put to be achieved.
