Traditionally, metal gaskets have relied upon an embossed sealing form being crushed between flange faces to work. Nicholsons' Reflexseal gasket provides additional benefits of 'live' flexible sealing by introducing a sealing device which incorporates established resilient metal sealing technology into multi layer gasket manufacture. With a sealing device similar to the Corruplus resilient metal seal, the Reflexseal gasket is ideal for those demanding applications involving high temperatures and pressures where the 'crush' type gaskets have now reached their limits. There are two designs available: the Double Ply construction and the Triple Ply construction. Reflexseals are typically made from Stainless Steel. Corruseal gaskets and Reflexseal gaskets can be designed and manufactured to suit a wide range of Customer application geometries and operating environments. Very tight tolerances and complex sealing arrangements can be solved with gaskets, and the Reflexseal pushes those limits further in it's abilities to accommodate vibration and cavity thermal growth.

The Sigma Seal is one of the most popular designs of resilient metal seals produced by Nicholsons. It is a low load flexible metal seal for use at high temperatures and pressures. Single Bellow or Multiple Bellows can be incorporated in its design, making it suitable for sealing the most demanding of applications where large thermal movement or tolerance stack-ups need to be accommodated. Specialised Sections are also manufactured.Sigma seals and other types of rolled Resilient Metal Seals can be designed and manufactured to suit a wide range of Customer application geometries and operating environments. Large scale vibration and cavity thermal growth can be accommodated by using a multiple bellow configuration. The sealing load generated upon the cavity and the structural abilities of the seal to meet required cyclic operating conditions and fatigue life can be optimised using advanced Finite Element Analysis techniques.

The Corruseal gasket is a highly sophisticated crush type gasket which utilises a triangular sealing corrugation form to concentrate the load available to those specific areas that require sealing. It is most versatile and can be made in Single Ply, Double Ply or Triple Ply designs. There are various materials, thicknesses and sealing corrugation designs available. E-Seals suit standard aerospace flange and ducting systems. All the E-Seals shown are manufactured from Inconel 718. However, we manufacture E-Seals in a wide range of materials for specific applications, such as Waspaloy and X750 and other variants of super alloys. Nicholsons also designs and manufactures Resilient Metal Seals with gap management. Swaged, shiplap joints allowing difficult access installation and part movement due to thermal distortions are a frequently used design solution for arduous applications. Our standard rolled Resilient Metal Seals are continuous, symmetrical rings. However, we design and manufacture the same seals in a series of 'non-round' configurations for specialist applications. This is a complex procedure requiring great care if the structural properties and integrity of the part are not to be detrimentally effected. Our manufacturing process is highly developed in order that we can create a part with a consistently maintained cross-section, even if the seal has a very complex form.
