Building upon a manufacturing heritage that spans more than 100 years, Safety Components engineers a range of natural or producer-colored Nomex® products for military end uses. Our manufacturing capability includes fabrics for pilots’ and combat vehicle crewmen’s coveralls as well as the latest in FR industrial workwear and structural firefighting gear.

Uniquely Engineered by Safety Components Technology in PPE has advanced at an amazing rate over the last few years. Lighter, stronger, more flexible FR fabrics coupled with ergonomic garment designs have revolutionized the way firefighters perform while wearing turnout gear. Filament Twill Technology™, developed and patented by Safety Components, can be found in outer shells like PBI Max™ and Armor AP™ and in thermal liners like Glide™. Flexible fabrics woven with filament and spun yarns in a twill design are making fabrics made of 90 - 100% spun yarns in a rip-stop weave a thing of the past. ComfortMobility Comfort and improved mobility are critical because comfortable PPE is more likely to be worn properly: ComfortMobility=Safety. The comfort and mobility of fabrics made with Filament Twill Technology are immediately noticeable compared to outdated rip-stopspun yarn dominant fabrics. Strength 100% Kevlar® filament yarns are over 2x stronger than Kevlar spun yarns. One result of DuPont™ Kevlar® filament in the fabric design is a significant increase in fabric strength both new and after exposure to UV. Lightweight Protection Lighter weight materials with improved protection are possible with Filament Twill Technology. PBI Max 7 oz. and Armor AP 6.5 oz. offer excellent thermal protection compared to heavier shells proving lighter is better with Filament Twill Technology.

By leveraging our technology leadership position achieved in the commercial firefighting market with one of the largest and most diverse apparel fabric producers in the world, we present Sigma 4 Star protective fabric as the ultimate in FR battle dress protection, comfort and durability. A wide variety of finished weight options are available, ranging from 2.9 to 7.0 ozyd².

Safety Components produces a variety of technical fabrics for the military. These products include various mil spec end uses, ballistic fabrics, fuel cells, polyester tentage, and numerous other applications using nylon, polyester, and aramid yarns. In addition, we welcome the opportunity to partner and develop any new fabrics based on customer requirements.

In Armor 7.0™ , Safety Components brings together America’s most trusted names in personal protection to offer firefighters and first responders an innovative outer shell fabric with new Filament Fiber Technology. Armor 7.0 combines military grade DuPont™ Kevlar®, solution dyed DuPont™ Nomex® and DuPont Kevlar fibers to form a power shield of protection. This revolutionary blend of fibers provides added thermal protection, excellent tear and rip resistance to create the world’s strongest aramid outer shell fabric.

A powerful, almost invincible alloy that combines three revolutionary fire fighting technologies: solution dyed DuPont™ Nomex®, perfectly blended with solution dyed DuPont™ Kevlar®, encapsulated with a miracle layer of our patented Teflon® F-PPE. These three elements are combined into an innovative low profile ripstop weave to deliver excellent thermal protection, unsurpassed performance in color longevity, with excellent durability and water repellency.

BodyShield composite technology is a patent-pending flame resistant insulative garment system. The combination of Stealth™ outer shell fabric technology and Versatech® FR lining technology coupled with the BodyShield FR insulating composite technology provides maximum protection against the elements in extreme cold weather conditions, superior FR and near infrared protection, while maintaining the proper balance of breathability, warmth, packability, and aesthetics.
