Beater-addition gasket materials, or simply Beater Add for short, are made by proprietary manufacturing processes. Each Beater Add vendor has their own process but the general process is as follows: A select mixture of water, latex, fibers, fillers, and chemicals is formed into a slurry. The slurry is then run through specialized machinery that extracts the water, dries the mixture, compresses, and vulcanizes the material into a long continous sheet. Sheets are rolled as a finished product from which gaskets are fabricated. The selection of fibers, fillers, chemicals as well as the compression force produce a wide range of formulations. The main advantage of Beater Add is that it is inexpensive. A disadvantage is that operating temperature ranges may be limited.

Thermally Conductive Fabrics are fiberglass-reinforced ceramic filled silicone polymer sheets used to provide thermal transfer and electrical isolation where interface gaps are less than 20 mils and high torque application is required.

Garlock's Inorganic Fiber Gasketing offers excellent thermal stability with minimal weight loss, reduced creep relaxation and improved torque retention. The inorganic fibers have excellent thermal and oxidation resistance, withstanding a continuous operating temperature of up to 550°F (290°C), and maximum spike of 800°F (425°C).

Garlock's high temperature gasketing excels in the harshest conditions—intense heat and high pressure. These high performance gasket materials have been laboratory tested for fire safety. They maintain an effective seal during pressure and temperature fluctuations, and their excellent torque retention lowers leakage rates and reduces maintenance time.

The ThermaCool family of high performance thermally conductive gap fillers provides solutions to difficult thermal management problems. The ThermaCool gap filler family includes products in a variety of thicknesses and a range of hardness values to effectively close gaps while providing the thermal transfer needed in demanding electronic applications.
