This silver circuit on the right is used on the underside of a plastic palm safety button to detect the presence of an operator.

PCAP Switches or buttons often require backlighting when not used over a display. A translucent printed PEDOT circuit is the best choice. Xymox translucent PCAP sensors made with PEDOT and silver ink laminated to a pressure sensitive adhesive make a cost effective solution easily fitted into the final product.

In some applications, Xymox can provide an NFC antenna that is built into the layer construction. Using a printed silver pattern, the antenna can reside near the top of the layer construction to offer best performance. A printed silver or carbon circuit can offer ESD as well as EMIRFI protection for many applications. It can be as simple as a printing pass added to a membrane switch or it can be a separate piece with a focus on just shielding. In many cases this may be more economical than a sprayed on shield or a metal box. The Xymox XyWeld® spacer involves a specialty adhesive bonded with a proprietary heat activated process to yield a spacer that is much more robust than a standard PSA. XyWeld® allows the use of membrane switches in applications which may be exposed to water, dust, extreme temperatures, and harsh cleaners.
