After this country, Germany and France are ranked at the second and third positions with 101,000 tons and 100,000 tons of strawberry import respectively. Spain is on the top of the list of countries that export strawberries across the globe. In the year 2017 itself, the country exported the largest quantity of strawberries that totaled around US$ 634.4 million. This is around 24.9% of the total strawberry export made in the year 2017. The United States, with US$ 473.3 million, and Mexico, with US$ 418.6 million, were ranked second and third in the list. Majority of strawberry traders worldwide get their strawberries from these countries.
Haryana is the leading producer of strawberries. During the year 2016-17, the state produced 201,000 metric tons of strawberries, which is around 34% of the total strawberry produce in the country. The high production in this state fulfills majority of the country’s strawberry requirement, thus, lowering the overall strawberry price in India.
