Jasmine is the name of a genus of vines and shrubs. They originate in temperature and warm to tropical areas of Europe, Africa and Asia. Leaves of the jasmine plant can be either deciduous or evergreen. It is often cultivated for its flowers, which are a waxy-white color and have five or six lobes. It is beneficial to cultivate the jasmine plant in soil that is well-drained and moist. In France, jasmine syrup is popular, and is made out of an extract from the flowers. Jasminee essential oil is also derived from the flowers. Jasminee should be planted in your garden between June and November and it can be grown from taking a cutting from an old plant.
