Uses :

Sodium hydroxide is used in many industries: in the manufacture of pulp and paper,  textiles,  drinking water,  soaps and detergents, and as a drain cleaner. In the petroleum industry, sodium hydroxide is used as an additive in drilling mud to increase alkalinity in bentonite mud systems, to increase the mud viscosity, and to neutralize any acid gas. Sodium hydroxide is used with hydrochloric acid to balance pH.

Lye is used for soap making, candle making, homemade biodiesel, frosting glass, making several foods, and for chemistry experiments.

Petroleum jelly is a mixture of hydrocarbons, with a melting point that depends on the exact proportions. The melting point is typically between 40 and 70 °C (105 and 160 °F). It is flammable only when heated to liquid; then the fumes will light, not the liquid itself, so a wick material like leaves, bark, or small twigs is needed to ignite petroleum jelly. It is colorless or has a pale yellow color (when not highly distilled), translucent, and devoid of taste and smell when pure. It does not oxidize on exposure to the air and is not readily acted on by chemical reagents. It is insoluble in water.

Uses :
Since gum rosin is easily softened and oxidized, in the oil paint industry, the carboxylation reaction of resin acid is usually employed to produce resinate for further use. While in the production of synthetic rubber and printing ink, resin acid is changed into disproportionate rosin, polymerized rosin, hydrogenated rosin etc., for further use by its double bond reaction.

Uses :

• Soap making because it is a powerful cleanser and skin moisturizers. Pure glycerin can also be added to plain liquid soap to make a high-glycerin shower-soap or shampoo.
• As an ingredient in make-up remover, since glycerin has natural grease cutting properties, it is a perfect natural ingredient for makeup remover
• Glycerin is responsible for the sweet taste in toothpaste products
• It is also added in shaving cream because it produces a soothing effect after shaving
• In lotion making because it helps hold moisture in the skin
• In creams that treat wrinkles
• As topical liquid for Erectile Dysfunction. Nitroglycerin can be used as a topical application to treat erectile dysfunction. The Glycerin has an immediate result that can last up to 45 minutes
• In Detergents, Glycerin when added to detergent can work wonders on cleaning machine parts to remove oil and grit. Glycerin is also an effective and economical dishwasher and laundry soap
• For Preservation, A 50/50 solution of Glycerin and water can be used to preserve green leaves but this process does not work for preserving flowers
• As paint brush cleaner. Small amounts of Glycerin can be used to clean oil based paints out of paintbrushes. The process can be repeated until there are no signs of paint in the brush.

Physical Properties :

• Trichloroethylene is a nonflammable colorless liquid with a sweet odor similar to ether or chloroform. (1)
• The odor threshold for trichloroethylene is 28 ppm. (6)
• The chemical formula for trichloroethylene is C2HCl3, and the molecular weight is 131.40 g/mol. (1)
• The vapor pressure for trichloroethylene is 74 mm Hg at 25oC, and it has a log octanol/water partition coefficient (log Kow) of 2.42. (1)
• Trichloroethylene is not a persistent chemical in the atmosphere; its half-life in air is about 7 days.

Uses :

• The main use of trichloroethylene is in the vapor degreasing of metal parts. (1)
• Trichloroethylene is also used as an extraction solvent for greases, oils, fats, waxes, and tars, a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals, and as a refrigerant. (1)
• Trichloroethylene is used in consumer products such as typewriter correction fluids, paint removers/strippers, adhesives, spot removers, and rug-cleaning fluids. (1)
• Trichloroethylene was used in the past as a general anesthetic.

Uses :

Liquid Paraffins are widely used in applications which include medical formulations, ointments, laxatives, repository vaccines, hair oils, hair creams, cosmetics, facial creams and lotions, gelatin capsules, food preservatives, protective coatings for fruits and vegetables, veterinary preparations, egg preservatives and as secondary plasticizer in plastic and petrochemical industry.

Uses :

Soda Ash is used in the manufacture of glass, paper, rayon, soaps, and detergents. It is also used to soften water

• It is used for the production of chemicals such as sodium silicate, sodium bicarbonate and percarbonate, and sodium chromate and dichromate,
• Pulp and paper manufacture, water treatment, effluent treatment, metallurgy and drugs.
