Switchgear Testing Services There are various kinds of Switchgears. They are mainly Air Insulated and Gas Insulated Switchgears and it consists of Current Transformer (CT), Potential Transformer (PT), Circuit Breakers (CB), Earthing Switches, Meters, Transducers, Control Components and Protection Relays. Unlike many electrical equipments, there are very few Diagnostic Testing on Switchgears. AYT recommends the following diagnostic testing on Switchgears: 1.Circuit Breaker Analysis 2.Contact Resistance Measurement 3.VLF HIPOT Testing 4.Thermography ( Online) 5.Online Partial Discharge Measurement Outdoor Circuit Breakers, Current Transformers, Potential Transformers, Surge Arrestors and Line Insulators etc are separate in the case of an Outdoor Switchyard and hence this equipment could be tested separately and Diagnostic Testing is performed which is listed below: 1.Insulation Resistance and Polarization Index (IRAPI™) 2.Winding Resistance & Turns Ratio (for CT/PT) 3.Tan Delta and Tip Up test 4.Online/offline Partial Discharge Measurement (Wherever possible, Offline testing is recommended)
