When preparing profiles or sheets for welding, the magnet is put on the parting line. After current is switched ON, the magnet pulls both components on the same level so that an exact welding operation can be performed. Cross joints and connection plates are firmly held for convenient welding, marking and drilling. By eliminating slings, some advantages are in fact attained, such as quick lifting of some pieces difficult to be reached, direct and precise positioning of the pieces to be worked, automatic feeding of the machines, the handling of some parts which are not easily lifted mechanically or which could be damaged by the use of chains or other tools.
