Nylon 6 is synthesized byring-opening polymerization of caprolactam. It is also called as Polycaprolactam , Polyamide or PA 6. Caprolactam has 6 carbon atoms in its chemical structure, hence 'Nylon 6' . It is a semi-crystalline polyamide and has good weldability. It is used in injection molding. We can reinforce Nylon with glass fibers, glass beads, and carbon fibers to improve their mechanical and thermal performance. Filled materials containing PTFE and molybdenum disulphide are available for bearing materials with appropriately low friction and improved wear. Nylon 6 is used in applications where toughness, lubricity, and wear are important, such as gear wheels. Nylon 66 is a type of polyamide or Pa. NYLON 6/66 are the two most common Polymer for plastics industries. Nylon 66 is made of two monomers each containing 6 carbon atoms,hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid, which give nylon 66 its name. Nylon 66 is frequently used when high mechanical strength, rigidity, good stability under heat and/or chemical resistance are required. It has broad use in automotive applications; these include "under the hood" parts such as radiator and tanks, rocker covers, air intake manifolds, and oil pans,as well as numerous other structural parts such as hinges,and ball bearing cages. Other applications include electro-insulating elements, pipes, profiles, various machine parts,zip ties, conveyor belts, hoses, polymer-framed weapons, and the outer layer ofturnout blankets. Nylon 66 is also a popularguitar nut material. Nylon 66, especially glass fiber reinforced grades, can be effectively fire retarded with halogen-free products. A variety of modifications can be made to improve impact resistance, toughness, and heat resistance. It is used in injection moulding and extrusion. It can be compounded with customs coloured grades and with Glass Fibre reinforcement, Flame Retardant, High Heat Stability and UV Stability in Prime series as per customer's requirements.
